 The new Silk Road



The new Silk Road is an initiative launched by Chinese President Xi Jingping in 2013, a strategy aimed at promoting economic, trade, cultural and tourism cooperation between the Popular Republic of China and the world, as well as aspiring to many aspirations for stability and sustainable development.
Through this project, China plans to revive and develop the historic Silk Road, which includes the construction of networks of roads, railways, oil and gas pipelines, power lines, the Internet and various infrastructure.

  • The wilderness Silk Road consists of three main lines:
First Line: connects East China via Central Asia and the Russian Federation to Europe.
The second line starts from China through central and western Asia and the Gulf region and into the Mediterranean.
The third line extends from China through Southeast Asia and South Asia to the Indian Ocean.
In addition to a number of land lanes under the project, including the China-Indian Subcontinent corridor, the China-Pakistan corridor, and the corridor linking Yunnan province to southwest China, Myanmar and Bangladesh with northeastern India.

  • While the coastal Silk Road consists of two main lines:
The first line starts from the Chinese coast through the Malacca Strait to India, the Middle East and East Africa, reaching the shores of Europe.
The second line connects Chinese coastal ports to the South Pacific.
